From award-winning novels and best-selling stories to family favorites and classic tales, there are books to fit every young reader’s varying interests. Here you’ll find a brief background on each of our imprints:
Farrar, Straus and Giroux Books for Young Readers
Launched in 1954, Farrar Straus Giroux Books for Young Readers publishes books for toddlers through young adults in hardcover and paperback. Our award-winning backlist includes Caldecott Medal and Honor Books, Newbery Medal and Honor Books, National Book Award Winners and Finalists, and Michael L. Printz Honor Books. Among our longtime authors and illustrators are Natalie Babbitt, Brock Cole, Alexandra Day, Madeleine L'Engle, Polly Horvath, Uri Shulevitz, David Small, William Steig, Sarah Stewart, and Ruth White. They have been joined more recently by Kate Banks, Cari Best, Ann Cameron, Cynthia DeFelice, Candace Fleming, Jack Gantos, Phillip Hoose, Claudia Mills, Peter Sís, Suzanne Fisher Staples, and Tim Wynne-Jones.
Feiwel and Friends was founded in 2006 by AAP Curtis Benjamin (Publisher of the Year) Award-winner Jean Feiwel. We are guided by our principal: Our Books Are Friends for Life. We publish children’s books that combine quality and substance with commercial appeal. Our list is eclectic: fiction and nonfiction, hardcover and paperback, series and stand-alone novels, for readers 0-16. The Feiwel and Friends list is made up of exciting new talent, such as New York Times-bestselling author and illustrator of On the Night You Were Born, Nancy Tillman, as well as beloved, acclaimed favorites, including Newbery Medalist Karen Hesse (Brooklyn Bridge) and Newbery Honor Winner Ann M. Martin (Everything for a Dog).

Our collection includes first cloth books which use bold colours, soft fabrics and touch-and-feel elements to stimulate babies’ senses. For toddlers, there are sturdy board books, which as well as developing vocabulary through the introduction of first words and pictures, also help to develop their awareness both of their environment and everyday experiences. For pre-schoolers, Priddy publishes a wide range of books to help your child take their first steps towards the classroom. Our books are designed to play an essential role in helping your children develop key early learning skills.

Square Fish
Square Fish, a trade paperback imprint culled from the collective backlists of Farrar, Straus and Giroux, Feiwel and Friends, Henry Holt, and Roaring Brook Press, launched in Summer 2007 with the re-release and redesign of Madeleine L’Engle’s Time Quintet, which has sold over two million copies in two years. Our list features award winning classics such as Tuck Everlasting and A Cricket in Times Square, as well as new bestsellers like Gabrielle Zevin’s Elsewhere, Shakespeare’s Secret by Elise Broach, and Ted Bell’s Nick of Time—we’re even doing movie tie-in editions. Our paperbacks are reformatted, repackaged, and reissued to include bonus material as well. Beginning with the new Dog Whisperer series in Summer 2009, Square Fish will now be publishing paperback original books.
